One of the most influential and amazing people in my life, Scott Johnson, has just put out a digital only release on bandcamp, and my god does it ever pull the ol' heart stings. Take the time to go check out Hamilton's finest Thoughts on Air's new album Moonlit Mind, and if you really dig it, don't be shy, throw the dude a bit of coin so he can continue bringing us such beautiful work. -Myiasis Tapes

MT:034: Reverse Hooker - Purse Taker (c-30)
An outstanding first outing from my ex-roomate, ex-bandmate, and long time friend, Drew Taylor (kisses give you powers, cop heaven, dirty couches, etc. etc.) During the recording of this i couldn't wait to grip a copy, the fact that he gave my first pick of tracks and allowed me to put it out under this imprint is a true honour. You've never heard of Reverse Hooker, but it's a name you won't soon forget.
Scott Johnson (maggot tapes, TOA, hunting rituals, etc.) puts it quite elegantly:
"FUCKIN REVERSE HOOKER blowin out my brain...drew taylor triple backflip chaos theory noir film elevator music psychadelics with dripping cat vocals!"

Limited to 35

MT:033: Tricorn & Queue - Chapter Sevra (c-20)
Thee most beautiful album i've ever heard.. Thee best Tricorn & Queue release i've ever heard. There is no use describing Jeff & Kane's work, as it would be an insulting understatement to the mastery that it is. Album of the fucking decade.

Limited to 50

MT:032: Developer (c-20)
Two ten minute harsh blasts from Dayton, Ohio junk noise master and long time Myiasis family member Matthew Reis. This is the sound of ear cells dying, this is the sound of the 1977 New York blackout and the riots that followed, this is the sound of Athens on fire. Dude will always have a home on the Myiasis roster, as time and time again he blows me away.

Limited to 50

MT:013: Ryan Jewell / Aea - Home Made Pigeon Pt.2 (c-8 split)
The second of hopefully many C minus 10 splits from Ryan Jewell and AeA. Ryan starts it off with bird sound rippers. Lost space and easy openings to natures finest. Rip-cut-blast. The amazon gives zero fucks for the rip. AeA, brooding and sombre. The first recording in 3 years proves it's just like riding a bike. New ideas new attitude. Heavy wall with a slice of cocaine lime.
I've never considered myself to be a superstitious man, but i should have just skipped #13, cause this thing has been a fucking curse. Two computers have died losing both mine and Ryan's tracks, i ended up taking my side straight from tape on the last attempt because i didn't want to risk another. The covers i printed off magically disappeared, and i shit you not my long time running Akai finally burnt out while dubbing the third last cassette.

Limited to 47 (fuck those last three, i'm done with this tape)

MT:031: Pummeler - The Sewage Riot (c-22)

MT:030: Grahf - Slowly Working Our Way Westward (c-10)

The A side is a dark and brooding electro-acoustic swash continuing and finishing the group of twelve B side from earlier this year. The B side features a more subtle and pleasant approach, with stings, flute, and found sound. (incorporating and reworking an old cassette I found that was probably recorded in late 2004 or early 2005, pre-Rocketpony!, pre-AeA, sounds like i'm just scrapping
kitchen utensils on an acoustic guitar. It's terrible on it's own. Might ever be rocketpony! i can't be sure.) and happens to be the only thing i've ever recorded that my girlfriend digs... Don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing though.

MT:029: al Qaeda - Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea (c-22)

MT:028: Andreas Brandal - Disturbance (c-39)

Four nice and long blats from my favorite Norwegian import. Andreas finds a wonderful medium between synth and grey-area harshness, and delicate sheets of field recordings and ea junk noise, make for some absolutly beautiful and murky layers, with some fabulous loops and builds. There's so much going on at times I have trouble keeping up with what he's using, but he never over does it, and has a great understanding of space, and on occasion lets it fall into an overwhelming sparse eerie darkness.

MT:027: Xiphiidae - Quartz on Wind and Knee (c-39)

Jeff has a knack for allowing your thought and imagination to run wild, he's made some of my favorite tapes to go to the park on a sunny day and completely zone out to. (Maybe a week ago, on one of our first really nice days, I went out with the exbx 2x cass, a housecraft, an earhate, and this one, and spent about 3 hours sitting under a tree, completely content)
Too beautiful to be creepy and vice versa. The scarcity and scratchy ambience makes for suprise when it's broken with completely blissed tonality and the occasional suggestion on melody.

MT:026: Fossils - Magnetic Minds Vol.2 (c-20)Two Sparse and atmospheric junkyard anthems from the prolific hammer heroes, featuring the line up of David Payne, Steve Smith (Thousand Year Frog) and Daniel Farr (The Living Stump). Slow and unrelenting found sound, at times reminiscent of the zombie series. This tape has been sitting in my deck since it was passed my way a week ago, and every time manages to gives me the creeps. David was the dude whom originally introduced me to noise music, and it’s an honour to finally be apart of the fossils legacy.

MT:025: Hunting Rituals / Grahf - Split (c-20)

Hunting Rituals gives us a beautifully crafted piece of his oh-so-lo-fi workings, an eventual and slowly building piece if swelling dissonant melody that could as much be made up of horns or voice as it could be forced feedback, i can't be sure. Cerebral and thought out layers of electro-acoustic crust swell the heart and warm the soul during these remaining cold days.
Grahf finishes and undoes what was started with Shrines, chimes and chains, glass and steel, swirl and churn you backwards and up into a black past not owned.

MT:024: Droughter - Crossing Swine (c-20)

Five heated and adrenaline soaked tracks from Heavy Psyches head Kevin McEleney. Heavy vocal meditation and immense and encompasing room feedback, layered with static fizz that bubbles like escaping air from the mou
ths of the drowning. Like amplified brownout problems with the towns electrical system, frayed and dripping with post-industrial rust.

Limited to 40.

MT:014: Teeth Collection / AeA - Split (c-30)

Teeth Collection presents a full frontal aural assault of cut up harsh noise, vicious and perverse towering tonality encased in sky-scaping high end, has the neighbourhood dogs circling, turning, and surrounding the house, utterly bemused.
AeA assembles slow and measured burnt drones over scorched sands of electrical dissimilation, like black mould growing, entwining the walls of your mind 'till you're coughing blood.

MT:022: Plasmic Formations - The High Preist's Will Save Us All (c-34)
Stormy night graveyard listening, with your bedroom window directly adjacent. Brooding synth provides the wind and howl of the unknown, sending tree branches scratching. I don't know if Josh intended this to be a creep piece, but it has certainly done the trick on me. The flip side switches it up with one of the prettiest looped synth pieces i've heard in a long while totally reminecent of peaking lights. A constant in rotation since the pass, which is always a treat.

MT:021: Grahf - Shrines (c-2)

Electro-acoustic swirls and primitive rhythm, home made instruments and effect take you breifly to the dark ages, and right back home again.

MT:020: Josh Hydeman - Screaming at the Wall (c-10)Four unrelenting harsh blats from Portland's own, PE heavyweight. Intense teeth-grinding vocals and intoxicating crusted electronics tear the wall down, and leaves no trace, no evidence. Post-industrial, post-apocalyptic, post-mortem rhythms and melodie hold it together like the filth and mire he spits. Josh is one of the most underrated dudes out there, and proves again why we should all be paying more attention. Mixed and finalized by Yellow Swanson.

Limited to 40 copies. Comes with a 6 page B&W booklet.

MT:019: HeadBoggleD - Rchive #2 (c-30)The second of many (i hope) Rchive's, is compiled unreleased work from this prolific San Fran omniverser. Layered ethereal winds of spectral lows and carbonated highs, luls and spacing of unorthodox rhythms made from cosmic hum, creates sunny-day-dream phosphene and blissed out states, the sound is unmistakably his own.

Limited to 40 copies.

MT:018: Robe. - Floods (c-30)

An in every respect, perfectly named album from this Columbus, Indiana duo. Two side long tracks that take your into Robes dark underworld, and find true beauty in the scariest of places, heavy low end textures push boundaries and snap the levee. Something I've always found profoundly endearing about Robe. is that they treat every release like it's as important as the last, they don't cut corners, and consistently put out compelling and inspiring work. One of my favourite projects in the works today, and simply an honour to have been a part of it.

Limited to 30 copies.

MT:017: Vestigial Limb - Cancel the Sky (c-20)

Ive been following Ray since I picked up the BSBC/VL split on Epicene last year, ever since Ive picked up anything he puts out so long as funds and timing allow it. When he approached me about doing a release it up within hours of making myiasis public, I started to feel butterflys, but covered it up well in my response to him with a yeah sure, thatd be alright. Anyways, I think this just may be a case of what Im calling parents-too-proud-of-their-own-children-syndrome or PATPOFOCS, but this is one of the best things Ive heard from his project, perfectly mastered with strict observation to tone structure and the texture of the fabric hes sewing, Ray gives you a plentiful dose of his unique delivery of minimal crust noise, that effectively makes you feel him in your bones, and oscillates your stomach into your throat. Brilliant.

Limited to 30 copies.

MT:016: AeA / Phosphene Form - Cry Havoc... (c-
20)
A side a piece from two former fellow jammers. AeA takes things uncharacteristically soft, trading off a bit of the angst and aggression for eeriness and disturbing atmosphere with a foundation of heavily reverb saturated drones and screams, low end tone crust featuring one of Hydeman’s old toys, and fluctuant skulk of high end bliss. Phosphene Form takes it up a notch with an implacable track of furious swirling loops via no input feedback. Rhythmic chaos oiled with delayed synth sputter and elevated drones. Potent, tormented and at the same time catchy.

Limited to 40. Comes in a 6.5 x 9.125 inch case.

SOLD OUT

MT:015: Hunting Rituals - Brooding Forest (c-20)

Have you ever seen the movie Altered States? This tape could easily be the Dark Side to its Oz. The sounds of sensory deprivation tank devolution in progress. Primitive rhythms washed with junk yard scrapes and stringed screams, matched perfectly with the undertone lo-fi wobble and hiss that made me love this project from day one. The third initials B.F. tape put together, featuring Jeremy Buchan (bottom feeder, ex-fossils, etc.) but the first released under the Hunting Rituals moniker, left me feeling content but still wanting more.

Limited to 30 copies. Comes in a cardboard slip with a tree bark mosaic on the front.

MT:012: Dead Embers - The Lost Tape (c-30)

Lost tapes from lost boys. An audio collage made from 10+ unlabeled c-60's and c-90's. Tracks thought lost and abandoned. Classic and finite single signal feedback, heavy drones and sparse crusty bleep, like a bunch of metal leaves on fire.

Limited to 20 copies.

MT:010: Ryan Jewell/AeA - Home Made Pigeon (c-2)

This is pretty straight forward, yet one of the harder things either of us have undertaken. I spent more time on one minute than I often have on twenty, and I was getting a new file every couple of days from Ryan, with the message, this is it. Where I took full advantage of my minute and tried to cram an entire set within, Ryan pays great attention to space and silence, and is able to draw the time out.

Limited to 36 copies, comes in a feather filled zip-lock, you can still smell the cigarettes.

SOLD OUT

MT:007: Twin Scales/ AeA - Taped, Tied,and in a Bloody Bag (c-20)

Side A: The second of three documented collab sets between Steve Smith (Thousand Year Frog) and Darcy Atkinson (AeA), displays the duos observation to space and tone-play at its best. Recorded live some sunday in past at the press club in Toronto, this was a crappy night, between gasmasks, a slot that got bumped later three times, and not getting paid, Steve and myself have never been so unenthusiastic about playing a show. When I got home and played the tape back it made the three hours I had left to sleep before work almost bearable. This one burns the high frequencies and rarely comes down, all internal feedback, along with dripping taps, and toilet flushes, recorded direct to tape leaves you with little room to breath. Send in the clowns!!!

Side B: This was another shitty night late November, so I took it out on a cd rack and a floor tom. Lots to work with here. Frustrated industrial crust, washed with reverb and delay, with the eventual spaces long enough for a "ewww" or an "ahhh" to sneak past.

Limited to 20 hand numbered copies, comes in a cardboard slip wrapped tight in twine, first 10 copies come in "blood" stained bag.

SOLD OUT

MT:006: Dead Embers - Goat With a Thousand Young (c-60)

Early advenures of two new room-mates. 3AM jams fuelled by James Ready and Coffee Porter. Single signal mixer feedback, creates the ultimate game of catch. There were no guidelines, and not trying to sound like anything, sounds sway from trance like rhythms to minimal ambient hum.
